Climate Graphing
Research Question:
Do Ocean Currents Influence Climates?
Analysis:
Chile has no precipitation due to how close it is to the Equator. It lies on the driest region on Earth. Rain falls into the nearby ocean.
Norway has moderate temperature and when there is rain, it can get heavy. Norway is free of ice during winter most of the time.
Japan has a rainy climate and has the most out of all. Surprisingly, it also has the highest temperature record out of the three as well.

1. Examine the climographs. What is the difference between the highest and lowest temperatures in the climograph for each city?
Chile:
Temperature: Very humid, most likely dry, since it is in the desert.
The highest would be around 74 degrees and the lowest would be 60.
Norway:
Temperature:
The temperature is at middle ranges but can drop to be cold. The lowest would be 25 and the highest would be 58.
Normal amounts of rainfall is regulated through out Norway.
Japan:
Temperature:
The temperature is very dramatic. From levels around 43 can increase to 80 during the year then drop back down again.
There is very high rainfall surprisingly due to the climate ranges and changes. They can go up to 8 inches in rain during the summer time.
2.Which city is the desert and how can you tell?
Chile is the most obvious that it's the desert due to lack of rainfall.
3. Take a closer look at the Arica, Chile climograph. What can you tell about the seasons and the months? How is this related to the hemisphere where Arica is located?
In Chile, it never rains and the temperatures is really high there. This can result in a cold current near by, causing the place to be very humid.
4. Is there a relationship between the temperature of the ocean current and the coastal climate?
Depends where it is located because Japan seems to prove otherwise.
5. Is there a relationship between the direction of the ocean current and the coastal climate?
Yes there is.
6. In general, on which side of the ocean basins are the cold currents? Warm currents?
South of the globe are cold currents
Near the equator and above the Northern Hemisphere are warm currents
7. What can you infer about the climate of each region by reviewing these climographs?
The location on the Earth gives us a good estimation on climate changes and weather patterns.
